Who we are
Africa Spark exists to close the distance between African research and African policy. Across the continent, rigorous empirical work is produced in universities, research institutes, and public agencies — yet much of it never reaches the decisions it should inform. We build the connective infrastructure that lets that work travel.
We are led by African researchers and former technocrats, and we work in partnership with institutions rather than in place of them. Our role is deliberate and specific: to set standards for how research is published, how data is shared, and how recommendations are reached.
Research is not an end in itself. It is the first step in a decision.
Through the Africa Spark Review we publish peer-reviewed work and policy standards. Through the Africa Spark Wire we make that work legible to a wider public. The Data Bank and the Forum extend this logic — an open repository of evidence, and a deliberative forum where it becomes consensus.
